The Rosacea Patient Journey

Author and Disclosure Information

Dr. Feldman discusses the importance of the rosacea patient journey model that he created with his colleagues as a resource for dermatologists to help manage and educate patients with rosacea. A patient journey is a map of the steps a patient takes as he/she goes through the different phases of a chronic disease, from before the patient seeks treatment through diagnosis and continued management. Dr. Feldman explains that the rosacea patient journey model can help identify targets for additional research as well as ways dermatologists can better serve patients, especially because the majority of rosacea patients never seek treatment. He also notes that a better understanding of the rosacea patient perspective can lead to better adherence to treatment, thus improving quality of life and satisfaction in this patient population.
