The authors coin "bachelor scurvy" in this issue, which occurs in older persons living alone due to poor diet. They also diagnosed an acneiform eruption in a 4-year-old boy from his mother using her prescription on him. They reviewed the acecdote, "The longer a hand eczema persists the more likely it is caused by a food sensitivity." In addition to reviewing treatment successes in their patients, they also commented on their method for determining which treatment works best for their patients: "[T]he results came from just listening to our patients, as so many of our observations do. We do not do formal drug testing. Double-blind studies do not mix with our style of caring for patients. We prefer straight talk with real medicine, rather than sweet talk with sugar pills." Their postulates for a good drug: (1) patient looks better; (2) patient feels better; (3) patient asks for more.
