In their January 1993 entries, the Shelleys discuss several of the environmental and medicine-related pruritic eruptions occurring in patients of all ages from psoriatic plaques to red scorpion bites as well as sweat-induced itching and redness in the antecubital and popliteal fossae and over-the-counter drug use causing an erythematous pruritic rash in a 52-year-old woman. Additionally, the Shelleys share their pleasant experience of a 4-month visit from the Russian dermatologic consultant, Dr. Nickolai Talanin; the 3 shared wonderful insight of their clinical techniques, including the Shelleys' use of a disposable razor blade to remove skin lesions. An interesting anecdote from this month's entries: "We use therapy as much for diagnosis as we use diagnosis for therapy."
